Liposuction & Body Contouring (Awake Lipo, FaceTite, BodyTite, Renuvion, Quantum RF)

  • You will leave the office in a compression garment; do not remove it for 36 hours straight unless medically necessary.
  • After 36 hours, you may remove compression for your first shower or lymphatic massage — reapply immediately after drying off.
  • Your first shower should be done with a loved one present, as some patients may feel lightheaded.
  • Small incision sites are intentionally left open to allow drainage; significant fluid drainage for up to 3–4 days is normal — this fluid is the numbing solution used during your procedure. Use absorbent pads or towels as needed and keep the area clean and dry outside of showering.
  • Apply absorbent dressings to incision sites and change every 24 hours for the first 4 days, or sooner if saturated.
  • Do not submerge wounds in water — no baths, pools, lakes, or oceans — for 4 weeks; showering is allowed after the initial 36-hour period.
  • Avoid tanning or direct sun exposure for a minimum of 6 weeks; starting at week 3, apply SPF 30+ daily to treated areas, as early sun exposure increases the risk of pigmentation and poor scar healing.
  • Starting at week 3, apply silicone scar gel daily to all incision sites and continue for several weeks to optimize healing.
  • Compression is critical for results: for body liposuction, wear compression 18–20 hours per day for the first 8 weeks, then 8–12 hours per day for the following 2 months. For chin liposuction, wear compression approximately 20 hours per day for the first 14 days, then nighttime wear only for the following 2 months.
  • Lymphatic massage is highly recommended, beginning within 1–3 days after surgery; your specialist will guide frequency and technique. Lymphatic massage plus compression are key for optimal results.
  • For pain control, if safe for you: acetaminophen (Tylenol) 1000mg or ibuprofen 800mg. Take any prescribed antibiotics and antivirals exactly as directed and do not miss doses, including the day after surgery.
  • Avoid tight clothing that creates pressure lines (jeans, high-waisted leggings) over treated abdomen or back areas for the first 8 weeks; if unavoidable, limit to no more than 3 hours at a time and always wear compression underneath.
  • Avoid prolonged sitting positions that crease or fold treated skin — repeated creasing can lead to permanent contour irregularities.
  • Swelling, drainage, and mild discomfort are expected; your final results depend heavily on compliance with compression and lymphatic massage.
  • Contact our office immediately if you experience pus-like drainage, increasing redness, severe or worsening tenderness, fever, night sweats, or chills. If you cannot reach our office, go to urgent care or the emergency room immediately.

Hyaluronidase (Filler Dissolving)

  • Swelling, tenderness, bruising, firmness, and temporary unevenness are very common after dissolving filler.
  • Swelling may temporarily make the treated area appear fuller before the filler fully breaks down and settles.
  • Final results may take several days to 2 weeks depending on the amount and type of filler treated.
  • Apply ice gently and intermittently during the first 24 hours to help reduce swelling and discomfort.
  • Avoid strenuous workouts, excessive heat, saunas, steam rooms, and heavy sweating for 24–48 hours.
  • Avoid excessive touching, pressure, or massaging of the treated area unless specifically instructed by your provider.
  • Avoid alcohol and excessive sodium for 24 hours to help minimize swelling.
  • Avoid facials, lasers, RF microneedling, waxing, chemical peels, aggressive exfoliation, and dental work for at least 2 weeks unless cleared by your provider.
  • Continue SPF use daily and avoid excessive sun exposure during healing.
  • Mild lumps, firmness, or unevenness may occur temporarily as filler dissolves and tissue settles.
  • Multiple dissolving sessions may occasionally be needed depending on the amount and type of filler present.
  • Re-treatment with filler is often delayed until swelling has fully resolved and tissue healing is complete.
  • Arnica may help reduce bruising and swelling during recovery.
  • Contact ICON immediately if you experience severe pain, worsening redness, blanching/whitening of the skin, dusky discoloration, fever, significant swelling worsening over time, or signs of infection.

Peptide Therapy, Hormones & Weight Loss

  • Semaglutide and tirzepatide are injected subcutaneously once weekly; retatrutide is injected subcutaneously twice weekly (recommended schedules: Monday/Thursday, Tuesday/Friday, or Wednesday/Saturday).
  • Recommended injection sites: lower abdominal fat (avoiding areas with scar tissue, prior liposuction, or tummy tuck), upper outer glute, or inner thigh.
  • Wash hands thoroughly before handling medication and clean the vial top and injection site with alcohol before each injection; use sterile technique at all times and inject into subcutaneous fat only.
  • Rotate injection sites regularly to reduce irritation, and store medication in the refrigerator at all times.
  • Aim for over 125g of protein daily to help preserve muscle mass, and keep carbohydrates under 100g daily whenever possible.
  • Weight train 3–5 times weekly for best body composition results, take a daily multivitamin, and drink 2–3 liters of water daily.
  • Start each morning with one electrolyte packet mixed in water to support hydration and reduce side effects.
  • Common side effects include nausea, constipation, diarrhea, bloating, acid reflux, fatigue, decreased appetite, and mild injection site irritation.
  • Contact ICON immediately if you experience severe abdominal pain, persistent vomiting, severe dehydration, signs of an allergic reaction, or severe/worsening side effects that aren't improving with time.

ProFractional, Contour TRL & Laser Resurfacing

  • Perform vinegar soaks as directed (1 teaspoon white vinegar per 2 cups distilled water); gently press soaked gauze onto the face for 30–60 seconds, rewetting and repeating for 10 minutes. The more soaks you do, the faster you heal — this cannot be overdone.
  • Pain control: Tylenol only for the first 48 hours — no Motrin, Advil, or ibuprofen. Benadryl is allowed for itching.
  • Stay well hydrated (2L water daily) and support healing with 2000mg vitamin C, 10,000 IU vitamin D3 daily, and a healthy amount of protein.
  • Sleep on a fresh pillowcase with your head elevated using 2–3 pillows for the first 1–2 days to help with facial swelling.
  • Everything that touches your face — hands, pillowcases, ice packs — should be extremely clean.
  • Do not rub your face at any time during the first 7 days — all scabbing must come off on its own. Rubbing scabs off can cause scarring and pigment changes.
  • If you have a medical-grade red light device, this may begin at home starting on day 3 — the device must be cleaned before touching your skin.
  • Continue all prescribed oral medication until the bottle is empty as directed, unless otherwise notified.
  • Day of treatment: keep skin moisturized with a recovery balm, sleep elevated on a fresh pillowcase, and pat the face dry only — never rub.
  • Mornings and nights, days 1–7: vinegar soak, gentle cleanse, wait 5 minutes, then apply recovery balm.
  • Mornings days 8–14, and nights through day 45: gentle cleanse followed by SkinBetter Even Tone, SkinBetter Mystro, and SkinBetter Trio, with daily SPF 30+ (plus hats and sun protection) during the day.
  • Intense burning, redness, warmth, and a sunburned sensation are normal for 2–8 hours after treatment; cool compresses and Tylenol may help.
  • Facial swelling, especially around the eyes, is common for several days and usually resolves within 3–6 days.
  • Quick cool-to-warm showers are recommended for the first 3 days; avoid aerobic exercise, saunas, and hot tubs for 7 days.
  • Makeup can be used once all scabbing has come off — handle the treated area gently when applying or removing makeup.
  • Avoid prolonged sun exposure for 4 weeks before and after treatment; use a total sunblock with zinc oxide or titanium dioxide daily if in the sun, as sun exposure can cause permanent skin discoloration.
  • Multiple treatments are typically needed, as laser resurfacing stimulates collagen remodeling that occurs over 3–6 months.
  • Contact our office immediately if you experience fever or chills, pus appearing after day 3, blisters/cold sores, or other signs of infection.
