Laser facial rejuvenation is ICON's most comprehensive treatment for aging and damaged skin: a multimodal plan that begins with neuromodulators and biostimulators to prepare the face, followed by a single-day laser surgery performed awake in our Birmingham office. Rather than relying on one device, Dr. Zayid layers the full Sciton laser suite at multiple wavelengths in one session, each targeting a different depth and a different problem, so the result addresses pigment, texture, fine lines, deep wrinkles, and acne scarring together. The session takes about one week of social downtime, until the skin barrier is intact and you are ready for makeup, and the skin continues to tighten and brighten for months afterward as new collagen builds.

Who It Is For

Laser facial rejuvenation is designed for patients who want a meaningful change in one session rather than a series of light treatments: acne scars, fine lines, moderate and deep wrinkles, crepey or loose under-eye skin, etched lines around the mouth, sun damage, and uneven tone and texture. Because multiple lasers at multiple wavelengths are combined, it can address all of these in the same visit.

Comfort: Awake, In Office, and Virtually Painless

The entire procedure is performed awake in our office, and comfort is built into every step. Before treatment you receive oral anti-anxiety medication and oral pain medication, topical numbing is applied to the full face, and Dr. Zayid places regional nerve blocks so the treatment areas are numb. Together these make the procedure virtually painless for the patient, both during the session and in the hours after, without general anesthesia or a surgical facility.

The Protocol, Step by Step

Phase one: preparation. In the weeks before your laser day, neuromodulators are placed to quiet the muscles that fold the skin, and biostimulators such as Sculptra or Radiesse are used to begin rebuilding collagen and structural support. Prepping the face this way means the lasers work on skin that is already relaxed and supported, so the resurfacing result is cleaner and longer-lasting.

Phase two: one-day laser surgery. On treatment day, Dr. Zayid works through the full Sciton suite in sequence, each laser chosen for a specific depth and target:

  1. BBL (BroadBand Light) to begin collagen induction and clear red and brown pigment across the face.
  2. Sciton HALO® TRIBRID™, which combines MOXI and HALO wavelengths for deeper collagen induction and further pigment and texture correction.
  3. ProFractional erbium laser for deep acne scars and etched lines, delivered in columns that drive new collagen without resurfacing the whole surface.
  4. Contour TRL, full-field ablation used to resurface specific deep wrinkles, particularly around the mouth and under the eyes.

Phase three: immediate recovery. As soon as the lasers are finished, the GlacialRx system delivers cryotherapy to cool and calm the treated skin. This reduces inflammation right away and shortens recovery time. You go home with day-by-day instructions and a skincare kit built for healing skin.

Phase four: follow-up week. You return to the office multiple times during the week after treatment for red light therapy and GlacialRx cryotherapy sessions to speed healing. Most patients are ready for makeup and social settings at about one week, once the skin barrier has fully re-formed.

What Results Look Like

Pigment and redness clear first, usually within the first two weeks. Texture and fine lines improve as the skin barrier re-forms. Deep wrinkles around the mouth and the under-eye area smooth and tighten over the following weeks, and because every laser in the sequence drives new collagen, the skin continues to tighten and brighten month over month for up to six months. The overall effect is skin that looks vibrant, even, and noticeably younger, without looking worked on.

What to Expect

Consultation. Dr. Zayid evaluates your skin with facial imaging, reviews your concerns and skin type, and maps which lasers, wavelengths, and depths your face needs. Your preparation injectables and your laser day are scheduled together, and you receive a written plan and quote.

Treatment day. Plan for several hours in the office, including time for your comfort medications and nerve blocks to take effect. Arrange a ride home.

Recovery. About one week of social downtime. Expect redness, swelling, and peeling in the first several days, managed with your home protocol and in-office red light and cryotherapy visits. Makeup can resume once the barrier is intact, typically around day seven.
